Covid-19 cases reach 2,533 in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 22, 2020 (BSS) – The number of COVID-19 cases has raised to 2,533 in the division with record 207 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stood at 2,533 in all the 10 districts of Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.

“We received 376 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this afternoon and 207 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she added.

The newly detected 207 COVID-19 patients include 127 in Khulna, 37 in Kushtia, 19 in Jashore, six each in Bagerhat, Jhenaidah and Narail, five in Satkhira and one in Meherpur districts in the division.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are 1,073 in Khulna, 112 in Bagerhat, 101 in Satkhira, 348 in Jashore, 129 in Jhenaidah, 64 in Magura, 100 in Narail, 384 in Kushtia, 180 in Chuadanga and 42 in Meherpur.

Meanwhile, a total of 631 have cured from coronavirus infections as 23 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is 24.91 percent while fatality rate 1.34 percent in the division.

“I call upon every citizen to stay at home, maintain physical distance, wear masks and abide by the health directives of the government to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 for the own safety and to keep others safe,” Dr. Rasheda added.
