General public holiday declared in 10 districts’ red zones

DHAKA, June 22, 2020 (BSS) – Considering severe COVID-19 transmission, the government has marked red zone areas in ten districts and declared general public holiday there.

The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification announcing general holiday on Sunday (June 21) in the red zones earmarked by the government. The general holiday will be effective in those areas from June 21, said the gazette notification.

The districts are Chattogram, Bogura, Chuadanga, Moulvibazar, Narayanganj, Hobiganj, Munshiganj, Cumilla, Jashore and Madaripur.

The general holiday will be applicable for the officials and employees working at all the government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory and non-government offices as well as organizations in these areas.

People’s movement in the red zones would be strictly controlled during the general holiday as emergency utility services will be out of the purview of restriction, it said.

In Chattogram, Uttar Kattali of ward no-10 under Chattogram City Corporation (rest of the areas except the BICIC Industrial city) area has come under red zone. The red zone declared in the area on June 17 and it would be effective for twenty-one days. The general holiday will remain in the area from June 21 to July 8.

In Bogura, Chellopara under the Bogura municipality, Nataipara, Naruli, Jwaleshwari tola, Sutrapur, Malatinagar, Thanthania, Haripari and Colony area have been declared red zones on June 14. The general holiday in these areas will remain from June 21 to July 5.

Refugee colony of Puranpur village under ward no-5 of Darshana municipality in Damurhuda upazila and Thanpara area of ward no-7 under Chauadanga district have been marked red zones on June 17. The general holiday will be enforced in those areas of the district from June 21 to July 8.

In Moulvibazar, catholic mission road of Srimangal union under Srimangal upazila, Rupshpur, Sabujbagh, Muslimbagh, Lalbagh, Biraympur, Kalighat road of Srimangal municipality and Syamoli area, Nandannagar of Baramchal union under Kulaura upazila, Mansur of Kadipur union as well as Magur and Mansur area under Kulaura municipality have been declared red zones on June 14. The general holiday will be effective in those areas from June 21 to July 5.

In Narayanganj, the areas from Balu bridge in north, Kaetpara in south, Kaetpara in east and Kanchan municipality in west under Rupganj union of Rupganj upazila have been declared red zones on June 11. The general holiday will be effective in the areas till July 2.

In Hobiganj, ward-6 and 9 under Habiganj municipality, 3 no Deorgach union of Chunarughat upazila, 7 no Ubahata union, 9 no Ranigaon and Chunarughat municipality, 1 no Azmiriganj sadar union of Azmiriganj upazila and Madabpur municipality area have been identified red zones on June 18. The general holiday has been announced in those areas from June 21 to July 9.

In Munshiganj, general holiday will be effective till July 9 in the red zone areas. The Mathpara area of ward no-1 under Munshiganj municipally was declared as red zone on June 17.

In Cumilla, Kaiajuri of ward no-3 under Cumilla City Corporation, Race Course Shasangacha, Jautala of ward no-10, Kandirpar, Police Line, Badurtala, Nanuar digirpar of ward no-12, Nababbari, Chowmuhoni, Digambaritola, Tomchom Bridge of ward no-13, Thirapukurpar and Dakshin Chartha area have come under red zones on June 16. The general holiday will be effective in the areas till July 3. In Jashore, Cholishia, Piara and Boghutia union under Avoynagar upazila, ward no-2, 4, 5, 6 and 9 under Avoynagar municipality, ward no-2 and 3 of Jikargacha municipality under Jikargacha upazila, ward no-1 and 3 of Keshabpur municipality under Keshabpur upazila, ward no-4 and 6 of Jashore municipality, Arabpur and Upasahar union, ward no-2 of Benapole municipality under Sharsha upazila and areas under Sharsha union declared as red zones on June 15. The general holiday will effective here till July 6.

Besides, Bakura union under Jikargacha upazila and ward no-4 of Jashore municipality under Jashore Sadar upazila have come under red zones on June 16. The general holiday in the areas will be effective till July 7.

In Madaripur, the general holiday in the red zones will be effective till June 30.

The red zone areas in the district are ward no-1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 of Madaripur municipality, Bahadurpur, Dudkhali, Kaudi, Mostafapur, Rasti and Kendua union under the municipality, ward no-1,4,5 and Shibchar 2nd part of Shibchar municipality under Shibchar upazila, Baheratala Dakshin, Bashkandi, Bhadrasan, Kadirpur, Madborerchar and Pachar union under Shibchar upazila, ward no-1,4,5,7,8 and 9 under Kalkini municipality, Dasar, Gopalpur, Alinagar and Sikarmangal union under Kalkini upazila, ward no-1,2,3,5,6 and 8 of Rajoir municipality, Badarpasha, Aamgram, Kabirajpur and Hossenpur area have come under red zone on June 17.
