Two ‘rapists’ held in Rangpur
RANGPUR, June 21, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two alleged “rapists” on charges of gang raping a teenage girl from Mithapukur Bazar in Mithapukur upazila town of the district on Saturday afternoon.
“On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters conducted a sudden rain in the Bazar and arrested the rapists,” a press release issued here by Media Officer of RAB-13 and Senior ASP Siddique Ahmad today.
The elite force conducted the raid and arrested the rapists after getting an allegation from the victim and her father.
The arrested rapists are Shree Sajib Babu alias Sakib, 26, son of Nani Gopal of village Khamar Tyebpur and Md. Shipan Miah, 22, son of late Moazzem Hossain of nearby Durgapur village in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur district.
“During interrogation, the arrested youths admitted that they raped the teenage girl one after another in a betel nut garden near the house of the victim on June 12 last after she repeatedly refused an illicit proposal from Sajib,” the release added.
After completing necessary legal formalities, the elite force handed over the arrested rapists to Mithapukur police station.
