Ministers, state ministers mourn Kamal Lohani’s death

DHAKA, June 20, 2020 (BSS) – Ministers and state minister today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey award winning journalist, noted cultural personality and veteran freedom fighter Kamal Lohani.

In separate condolence message, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Those who condoled his death include Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin , Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman and Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad.

Besides, State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Kamal Lohani and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul as well as conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Lohani died at a city hospital today at the age of 86.

He was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital in Mohakhali.
