COVID-19 cases cross 6,000 in Ctg district

CHATTOGRAM, June 20, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases crossed the 6,000 as 187 more new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus at the five laboratories after testing 773 samples in the district in last 24 hours.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients are now stand at 6,098 only in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS today.

Of the newly detected 187 COVID-19 patients, 92 are the residents of the port city and the rest 95 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that with today’s three more death, a total of 139 COVID-19 patients died in the district due to COVID-19 and 592 persons were released from the hospital after recovery, the civil surgeon said.

Dr Rabbi told that 42 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with the corona virus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 269 samples in last 24 hours.

Fifty-four more new COVID-19 patients were tested corona positive at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 217 samples during the same period.

Besides, 39 new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) after testing 154 samples, the civil surgeon said.

A total of 49 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at Chattogram University after testing 124 samples in last 24 hours

Besides, 56 more corona patients were identified at city’s Imperial Hospital after testing 126 samples during the same period.

On the other hand, three residents of Lohagara upazila were identified as COVID-19 positive after testing nine samples at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital in last 24 hours.
