Maritime ports asked to keep hoisted signal 3

DHAKA, June 19, 2020 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining areas.

“A deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining areas. Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” said a weather bulletin this evening.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.

In another met office warning message, river ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one till 1 am tomorrow as rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or south easterly (s/se’ly) gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kilometer per hour (kph) is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
