CHATTOGRAM, June 19, 2020 (BSS) – Al-Manahil Welfare Foundation, a voluntary organization, has been burying the bodies of those dying with coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms in Chattogram.

The Welfare Foundation has prepared a 75-bed COVID-19 hospital with five ICU facilities at city’s Halishahar area to provide services to the patients suffering from coronavirus infection. Coronavirus patients will get services in this hospital from next week.

It is learned that there is a reception, emergency department and observation ward on the ground floor of this six-storey hospital building. A total of 75 beds have been set up in the remaining five floors.

Farid Uddin, chief executive officer of Al-Manahil Welfare Foundation, said as the numbers of corona patients is increasing day by day, they have decided to introduce corona treatment in the hospital.

The preparations have almost been completed and Oxygen line installation is underway, he added.

He said six doctors and sufficient nurses have been appointed so far. “We will hire a few more doctors and nurses very soon and the medical service could be started here within a week,” he added.

“Our patients here will be given free medical services on behalf of Al-Manahil Welfare Foundation,” he said.

This hospital was established earlier by an American expatriate philanthropist named Nasreen Lucky to provide medical services to the locals. The hospital had been providing charitable services to the locals for a long time.

Nasreen Lucky handed over the hospital to the Al-Manahil Welfare Foundation a year ago in order to continue her services as she could not afford to spend time due to his busyness abroad.
