Covid-19 cases reach 1,925 in Khulna division with more 148

KHULNA, June 19, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 1,925 in the division while 148 more new cases were reported after testing their samples at the three COVID -19 laboratories here in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Health officials said the newly detected 148 COVID-19 patients include 83 in Khulna, 34 in Kushtia, 10 in Satkhira, six in Jashore, five in Chuadanga, four in Jhenaidah, two each in Bagerhat, Magura and Narail districts in the division.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 1,925 in all the 10 districts of Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.

“We received 318 samples at Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) and other samples at Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 148 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she added.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are 672 in Khulna, 102 in Bagerhat, 96 in Satkhira, 289 in Jashore, 123 in Jhenaidah, 58 in Magura, 73 in Narail, 307 in Kushtia, 169 in Chuadanga and 36 in Meherpur.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 516 with discharging of nine more people after their recovery from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients currently stands at 26.80 percent while fatality rate 1.35 percent in the division.

She laid emphasis on maintaining three heath directives– wearing mask, physical distancing and washing hands by soap– to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.

“Among the total 1,925 coronavirus infected persons, 264 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 516 recovered patients and 26 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi Akhter said.

Besides, a total of 26 fatalities, including two in the last 24 hours till this noon, were reported so far in the division with 10 in Khulna, three in Meherpur, two each in Bagerhat, Magura, Narail, Kushtia, Jhenaidah and Chuadanga districts and one in Jashore district, the health official mentioned.
