93 more policemen recover from COVID-19

DHAKA, June 18, 2020 (BSS) – More 93 coronavirus (COVID-19) infected members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) were released from Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital (CPH) and Sylhet hospital today following their recovery.

With this, over 4,000 policemen of DMP left CPH after recovery in phases, according to a release issued by DMP’s public relations and media wing.

Apart from this, 41 policemen under SMP left hospital as they were found coronavirus negative in separate tests in Sylhet, Deputy Commissioner of SMP Jedan Al Musa said in a statement.

The DMP release said that policemen infected with the coronavirus are undergoing treatment at CPH and Impulse Hospital in the capital.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, members of Bangladesh Police have been most affected as a single professional group the release added.

According to the medical protocol of the government’s IEDCR, the recovered policemen were conducted COVID-19 tests twice. As COVID-19 was negative in the tests then doctors declared them coronavirus-free and gave them permission to leave the hospital, it added.

Besides, so far 158 policemen of SMP were infected with the COVID-19, the SMP release said.

The coronavirus-winning police members were greeted with flowers while leaving the hospital.

The DMP press release said more than 7,500 policemen of Bangladesh Police have been infected so far as a single profession group.

The fearless members of police were given the title of front-fighter for doing everything possible to keep people safe, the release added.
