Youth held with 12 gold bars in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, June 18, 2020 (BSS)- District Police detained a youth with 12 gold bars worth TK 72 lakh from Bhatiari bus station area under Sitakunda upazila of the district.
Firoz Hossain Mollah, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda thana, confirmed the recovery of 12 gold bars, saying the gold bars were recovered from a young man named Gautam Banik, 35, hailed from Feni district last night.
Based on secret information, a team of Sitakunda police raided the Bhatiari bus station area yesterday night and arrested Gautam Banik with the gold bars.
OC Feroz Hossain said each bar weighs approximately 10 pounds and the market value of the gold is about TK 72 lakh.
A case has been filed with the police station under the Special Powers Act, he added.
