Covid-19 cases reach 1,608 in Khulna division
KHULNA, June 17, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 1,608 in the division with 105 more new cases were reported after testing their samples at three COVID -19 laboratories here in the last 24 hours till this noon.
Health officials said the newly detected 105 COVID-19 patients include 47 in Khulna, 25 in Jashore, 15 in Jhenaidah, 12 in Kustia, three in Chuadanga and one each in Satkhira, Narail and Meherpur districts in the division.
“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 1,608 in all the 10 districts of Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.
“We received 387 samples at Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) and other samples at Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 105 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she added.
The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are 492 in Khulna, 87 in Bagerhat, 86 in Satkhira, 269 in Jashore, 119 in Jhenaidah, 55 in Magura, 66 in Narail, 253 in Kushtia, 147 in Chuadanga and 34 in Meherpur.
Meanwhile, the total number of recovered of COVID-19 patients rose to 471 with discharging of 25 more people after their recovery from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.
“The percentage of recovery rate among all 1,608 coronavirus infected patients stands at 29.29 now in the division,” Dr. Ferdoushi said.
“Among the total 1,608 coronavirus infected persons, 230 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 471 recovered patients and 22 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she added.
Besides, a total of 22 fatalities, including two in the last 24 hour till this noon, were reported so far in the division with nine in Khulna, two each in Bagerhat, Magura, Narail Meherpur and Jhenaidah and one each in Jashore, Kustia and Chuadanga districts, the health official mentioned.
