DMP’s 53 more policemen recovered from coronavirus

DHAKA, June 16, 2020 (BSS) – Fifty-three more police personnel of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) left Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital (CPH) today after recovering from coronavirus.

So far, over 4,000 policemen left CPH after recovery in phases, according to a release issued by DMP Public Relations and Media.

Earlier they were diagnosed with the deadly virus and found tests negative at the COVID-19 Laboratory separately.

The release said that 1,977 members of the DMP had been attacked by the coronavirus till Monday. Of them, 1,377 have returned home after recovering the virus, 587 are undergoing treatment and 13 front fighter policemen died during the corona war. All policemen infected with the virus symptoms are undergoing treatment at CPH and Impulse Hospital, it said.

The release further said that since outbreak the coronavirus, members of Bangladesh Police have been most affected as a single profession, even they are returning home in groups after receiving proper treatment.

According to the medical protocol of the government’s IEDCR, the recovered 53 policemen were conducted COVID 19 tests twice. As COVID 19 was negative in the tests then doctors declared them corona free and gave them permission to leave from the hospital, it added.

The corona-winning police members were greeted with flowers before leaving the hospital.

Meanwhile, direct guidance and quick steps by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed, the policemen affected by corona are waiting to return to their works.

The DMP’s press release said more than 7,500 policemen of Bangladesh Police have been infected so far as a single profession. More than half of them have recovered and 26 people died.

The fearless members of police were given the title of front-fighter or front fighter by doing everything possible to keep people safe, the release added.
