1,000 more distressed people get improved food in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 14, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRC) has provided improved food to 1,000 more distressed and other helpless people to alleviate their livelihood related difficulties being caused by the global novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

BDRC’s Rajshahi city unit distributed the food support in Baganpara and Laxmipur areas in the city on Saturday afternoon through maintaining social distancing and other protective measures to stem the coronavirus spreading.

President of the city unit and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by its members Prof Mokbul Hossain, Prof Tanbirul Alam, Nawsher Ali and Dr FMA Zahid distributed the humanitarian support.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to cope with the present pandemic situation.

The government has been dispensing foodstuffs and cash money among the low-incoming and other hand-to-mouth families to mitigate their hardships being caused by the pandemic.

Earlier on, the unit provided food assistance to another 2,000 distressed families amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
