Dedicated COVID-19 hospital inaugurated in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, June 13, 2020 (BSS) – The new hospital dedicated to treating coronavirus patients opened its journey today at the new building of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed formally inaugurated the hospital this evening.

Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation Ekramul Haque Teto, Deputy Commissioner Md. Mizanur Rahman, Divisional Director, Health Dr. Abul Kasem, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mosheul Alam, Principal of MMCH Prof. Chitta Ranjan Debnath, Deputy Director of MMCH Luxmi Narayan Majumder were present, among others.

The hospital will be used only to treat Covid-19 patients. It has 10 ICUs, 40 cabins, 100 beds and dialysis unit.

As per decision of the Coronavirus Prevention Committee, the authority of the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) has given permission to use fifth to eight floors of the building as corona dedicated hospital temporarily, MMCH official sources said.

To run the hospital properly a nine members management committee has been formed led by Prof Dr. MA Bari, Head of Cardiology Department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
