Covid-19 cases reach 1,244 with record 98 more in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 13, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 1,244 mark as record 98 more new patients were diagnosed in a single day with the lethal virus after testing samples at three COVID -19 laboratories here in the last 24 hours till noon today.

Health officials said the newly detected 98 COVID-19 patients include 38 in Khulna, 17 in Bagerhat, five in Satkhira, 18 in Jashore, 10 in Jhenaidah, six in Narail, one in Kustia, and three in Chuadanga districts of the division.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 1,244 in all ten districts of Khulna division,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter said.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are stand at 342 in Khulna, 66 in Bagerhat, 68 in Satkhira, 202 in Jashore, 82 in Jhenaidah, 52 in Magura, 58 in Narail, 201 in Kushtia, 140 in Chuadanga and 33 in Meherpur.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered of COVID-19 patients rose to 385 with discharging of five more people after their recovery from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all ten districts of the division in last 24 hour.

“The percentage of recovery rate among all 1,244 coronavirus infected patients stand at 30.95 now in the division,” Dr. Ferdoushi said.

“Among the total 1,244 coronavirus infected persons, 200 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 385 recovered patients and 16 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

At the same time, a total of 16 fatalities were reported so far with four in Khulna,two in Bagerhat, two each in Magura, Narail and Meherpur, one each in Jashore, Kustia, Jhenidhah and Chuadanga districts.

“We received 378 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours tilkl this noon and 98 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Ferdoushi said.

Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana suggested everyone to maintain physical distance, wearing masks and abide by the health directives to remain safe from community transmission of COVID-19 infection.
