He said Tk 22,489 crore was proposed for fisheries and livestock and food security sectors in the next fiscal, increasing the amount from Tk 21,484 crore in the outgoing fiscal.
The social safety net programmes have been widened to minimise the sufferings of the poor and working people caused by the long general holiday and lockdown, the road transport minister said.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken an initiative to provide cash assistance for 50 lakh families to cut sufferings of the poor and destitute people.
A plan is included in the proposed budget to increase the number of beneficiaries of old-age allowance, widow and divorcee allowances and disable allowance programmes, he added.
Quader hoped that Bangladesh would move forward overcoming all the problems and ongoing crisis under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
About the BNP’s reaction on the proposed budget, he said BNP leaders made false and confusing statements after announcements of budgets in the last 11 years, saying every time that “the budget is not implementable”.
The AL general secretary said this time, BNP leaders are also lying about a well-planed budget.
