DHAKA, June 12, 2020 (BSS) – Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has urged Australian enterprises to invest more here saying that investing in Bangladesh is more profitable than other countries in the region.

Momen made the urge during a telephone conversation with his Australian counterpart senator Marise Ann Payne on Thursday, a foreign ministry press release said here today.

Mentioning that presently investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing in Bangladesh, Momen said Dhaka welcomes if any country would like to relocate its business here from other countries.

He said Bangladesh is looking forward to create more employment to overcome its economic fallout wreaked by the COVIOD-19 pandemic.

Bangladesh has been building 100 economic zones where Australian companies can be benefited by investing, he said, adding simultaneously, it will create a huge employment oppotunity for the local people.

Besides, Bangladesh set up 28 high-tech parks as the country has a huge pool of skilled IT professionals, he added.

Bangladesh foreign minister also sought Australian support in safe and dignified repatriation of persecuted Rohingyas to Myanmar.

Observing that repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingyas to Rakhine of Myanamr, their land of origin, is the only solution of the crisis, he said Rohingyas are not citizen of Bangladesh and Dhaka had given them shelter temporarily considering humanitarian ground.

Mentioning that no country does step forward to rescue Rohingyas when these persecuted people stranded at sea after being tortured in Myanmar, Momen said all countries should share the responsibilities of Rohingyas.
Momen also thanked Australian foreign minister for his government’s support towards expatriate Bangladeshis including students residing there in this crisis period of pandemic.
