Critically fire injured Journalist Moazzem Hossen hospitalized

DHAKA, Jun 12, 2020 (BSS) – Moazzem Hossen Nannu, a senior reporter of The Daily Jugantor, was critically injured in a fire incident that broke out at his Aftabnagar residence here this morning.

Moazzem caught in fire when he had tried to torch the gas burner at the kitchen of his residence around 4am, Nannu’s wife Shahina Ahmed Pallabi said, adding “The fire broke out with a loud bang and engulfed the entire house due to gas leakage from the pipeline.”

Critically injured Nannu, also ex-general secretary of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB), is now undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery under the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in the city.

“The patient is in critical position as around 60 percent of his body was burnt”, Dr Shamanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the Institute, said.

Earlier, Nannu’s only son Shapnil Ahmed Pias also died in a fire incident on April 2.
