Proposed budget pro-people, realistic dev oriented: KCCI

KHULNA, June 12, 2020 (BSS) – Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in its after budget reaction on Thursday termed the proposed national budget for the FY 2020-21 as pro-people, time-befitting and realistic development oriented.

President of KCCI Md Kazi Aminul Haque on behalf of the organization expressed the reaction hailing the budget as pragmatic and suggested for its proper implementation as it will help to expedite economic development in Bangladesh.

According to the KCCI press release, the chamber president said emphasis should be given on ensuring transparency and accountability in implementation of the ever-highest annual budget.

He praised Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and also thanked and expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for proposing such an ever-biggest challenging budget amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

This budget was a very challenging one as the whole world is now fighting against the coronavirus, he said, adding “Most of the countries’ economy has come to a halt due to the Covid-19 attack. In between this, announcing the budget for the fiscal year is a very challenging work to do.”

“Its implementation will not be impossible,” the KCCI president said, adding that such budget was needed to meet up gradually increasing demands of the nation as it will help to reflect hopes and aspirations of the public in general.

Aminul Haque calls for special budgetary allocation to the potential sectors including Jute, Shrimp, Khanjahan Ali Airport and for repairing collapse dykes, roads which damaged during the super cyclone Amphan in the region through bringing some addition and reduction in the proposed budget.

The budget will obviously supplement the improvement process of national and socio-economic condition after expediting the GDP growth alongside elevating human resource and reducing poverty, he said.

Lauding every aspect of the budget, the KCCI president said the emphasis on social safety net, research and development, innovation, ICT, infrastructure, socio-economic, poverty alleviation, human resources, education, agriculture and health sectors make it a contemporary plan.
