Covid-19 cases reach 1,146 in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 12, 2020 (BSS) – The number of COVID-19 cases has surged to 1,146 in the division with 84 more new positive cases reported after testing samples at three COVID -19 laboratories here in the last 24 hours till noon today.

Health officials said the newly detected 84 COVID-19 patients include 32 in Khulna, one in Bagerhat, five in Satkhira, 10 in Jashore, two in Jhenaidah, six in Magura, one in Narail, 23 in Kustia, three in Chuadanga and one in Meherpur
districts of the division.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter said a total of 378 COVID-19 patients have so far fully recovered out of the total 1,146 infected people in the division.

“We received 280 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 84 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she said.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients stand at 304 in Khulna, 49 in Bagerhat, 63 in Satkhira, 183 in Jashore, 72 in Jhenaidah, 52 in Magura, 52 in Narail, 201 in Kushtia, 137 in Chuadanga and 33 in Meherpur.

Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients currently stands at 32.98 percent while fatality rate 1.31 percent in the division.

“Among the total 1,146 coronavirus infected persons, 191 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 378 recovered patients and 15 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

She laid emphasis on maintaining three heath directives — wearing mask, physical distancing and washing hands by soap — to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Among 15 fatalities, four are in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, two each in Magura, Narail and Meherpur, one each in Jashore, Kustia and Chuadanga districts.
