Budget is an optimistic document to tackle COVID-19: Quader
DHAKA, June 11, 2020(BSS)- Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said this year’s budget is an optimistic document of realistic expectation for tackling the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
As the budget was placed before parliament amid coronavirus pandemic, he said “This year’s budget is made under a different reality and also a different global context.”
This budget is a document of realistic expectation to shape the existing coronavirus crisis, he said in a video message from his residence in Jatiya Sangsad bhavan area following the placement of the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
Terming the budget as a time-befitting outcome, the minister added that it (budget) is the golden crop of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s courageous and timely thought to keep the wheel of livelihoods alive along with lives in the country.
The proposed budget is a plan for economic transition, as well as boosting people’s confidence, he said, adding that it is a people-friendly and life-saving economic document.
About BNP, he mentioned that BNP’s reaction on budget was fabricated and made in advance, adding that it was their (BNP leaders) so called traditional old story.
