ACC gets Tk 150cr allocation to intensify fight against graft

DHAKA, June 11, 2020 (BSS) – Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has earmarked Tk 150 crore for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the proposed budget for fiscal 2020-2021 with a view to expediting the anti-corruption campaign in line with the government’s zero tolerance policy against graft.

The government allocated Tk 140 crore for the ACC in the proposed budget for fiscal 2019-20.

The finance minister proposed the allocation while placing the budget for fiscal 2020-21 in the Parliament here today.

In his budget speech, Kamal said the government has taken a zero tolerance approach against corruption.

Many operations against corruption have been conducted this year, which were praised by all, he said.

To completely uproot corruption from the society to ensure the real socioeconomic development in the country, the finance minister said, the ACC is working to develop an administrative structure based on good governance.

To modernise and update activities of the national anti-graft agency, the ‘Ant-Corruption Commission Rules’ has been amended in June 2019, he added.

Kamal said the government will continue its tough stance against corruption.
