Tk 150 crore proposed for ACC

DHAKA, June 11, 2019 (BSS) – The government has allocated Taka 150 crore for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), state-run anti-graft body, in the proposed budget for 2020-2021 fiscal at Jatiya Sangsad in a bid to expedite the anti-graft campaign.

The government had allocated Taka 140 crore for the ACC in the revised budget of 2019-2020 fiscal, which is Tk 10 crore lower in comparison to the proposed budget of the current fiscal, he said.

“The government has taken zero tolerance approach against corruption . . . To completely uproot corruption from the society to ensure the real socioeconomic development in the country, the ACC is working to develop an administrative structure based on good governance,” Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said this in his budget speech in the House this afternoon.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the first day of the brief budget session, in presence of the leader of the House Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Noting that the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules has been amended in June 2019 to modernize and update the activities of the anti-graft commission, the minister categorically said, “The government will continue with its tough stance against corruption.”
