Army provides foodstuffs to char families in Gangachara
RANGPUR, June 11, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Army distributed foodstuffs among 120 river-erosion victim distressed families of remote char areas in Nohali union of Gangachara upazila in the district on Wednesday.
Led by Captain Saikat, members of Bangladesh Army distributed the foodstuffs in a function arranged at Char Kamarpara village of the union maintaining physical distance and health directives to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Before distribution of the foodstuffs, Captain Saikat briefly discussed the nature and severity of COVID-19 and put importance on maintaining physical distance and wearing masks to prevent spread of the deadly virus.
Each of the beneficiary families received a sac containing rice, flour, pulse and biscuits, edible oil and iodized salt.
On the occasion, Nohali union parishad Chairman Abul Kalam Azad Titul thanked Bangladesh Army for standing beside the distressed and jobless families of different char villages of the union on Teesta riverbed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
