ILO, UNICEF assess impact of COVID-19 crisis on child labour

DHAKA, June 10, 2020(BSS) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Agency, will launch a joint briefing paper that will examine the effects of the COVID-19 crisis on child labour.

The ILO and the UNICEF will launch the joint briefing paper marking the World Day Against Child Labour on June 12, said a message received here today.

It said prior to the pandemic it was estimated that there were 152 million children in child labour sector across the world.

The paper outlines some trends that have emerged since the start of the crisis, and it makes recommendations to lessen the negative consequences, the message read.
