55 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 9, 2020 (BSS) – Fifty-five more people were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in
Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 55 infected patients were reported
after diagnosing 376 samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 21 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new patients include 14 of Rangpur, three each of Gaibandha
and Kurigram, one of Lalmonirhat districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu told BSS.

On the other hand, 34 new patients were reported after diagnosing
188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 34 new COVID-19 patients include 15 of Dinajpur, 12 of
Nilphamari, six of Thakurgaon and one of Panchagarh districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 1,487 as 55 new cases were reported from across the
division.

“The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 515 in
Rangpur, 92 in Panchagarh, 171 in Nilphamari, 52 in Lalmonirhat, 82 in
Kurigram, 150 in Thakurgaon, 338 in Dinajpur and 87 Gaibandha
districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
