DSE posts marginal gains

DHAKA, June 9, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today closed trading posting marginal gain after a day as the investors are taking steps cautiously amid COVID-19 outbreak.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 3962.37 points on Tuesday with a gain of 6.26 points or 0.15 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 4.24 points and 0.35 points to settle at 1329.15 points and 917.78 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 10,546 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 25.04 million securities.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 677 million which is lower than of previous day’s Taka 1.06 billion.

Gainers took a lead over losers as out of 281 issues traded, 25 securities gained price while 16 declined and 238 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE rose slightly to Taka 3,102 billion, from Taka 3,100 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers ACI Formulation, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Anlima Yarn, ACME Lab, Central Pharma, Exim Bank, AMCL (PRAN), SEML LEC Mutual Fund, ACI and Republic Insurance.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Square Pharma, Indo-Bangla Pharma, ACI, Silva Pharma, Exima Bank, Beximco Limited, Meghna Petroleum, Central Pharma and Grameenphone.

The top 10 losers were Prime Insurance, Desh Garments, Phoenix Insurance, Phoenix Finance, AIBL First Mutual Fund, Aamra Technology, Eastland Insurance, National Life Insurance, NCC Bank and Aramit Ceremnt.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed trading at red extending the losing streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 3.13 points and 4.88 points to stand at 6812.95 points and 11244.81 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 7,272,954 shares and mutual funds of 92 companies were traded, of which 18 issues advanced while 11 declined and 63 issues remained unchanged.
