Covid-19 cases reach 917 with highest 75 more in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 9, 2020 (BSS) – The number of the caseload for COVID-19 has surged to 917 in Khulna division with record 75 more new positive cases reported in a single day after testing samples at three COVID -19 laboratories in the division in the last 24 hours till noon today.

Health officials said the newly detected 75 COVID-19 patients include 18 in Kushtia, 16 each in Khulna and Narail, 12 in Jashore, four each in Jhenaidah and Chuadanga, two each in Bagerhat and Satkhira and one in Magura districts of the division.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter said a total of 349 COVID-19 patients have so far fully recovered out of the total 917 infected people in the division.

“We received 188 samples at Khulna Medical College (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 75 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Ferdousi said.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are stand at 217 in Khulna, 45 in Bagerhat, 55 in Satkhira, 154 in Jashore, 64 in Jhenaidah, 41 in Magura, 47 in Narail, 138 in Kushtia, 127 in Chuadanga and 29 in Meherpur, Dr. Ferdousi said.
Khulna Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients currently stands at 38.06 percent while fatality rate 1.52 percent in the division.

“Among the total 917 coronavirus infected persons, 159 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 349 recovered patients and 14 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

At the same time, a total of 14 fatalities were reported so far with four in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, two in Magura, two in Narail, two in Meherpur, one each in Jashore and Chuadanga districts.

On the other hand, four people died with coronavirus symptoms at flu corner of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in the city in last 24 hour till noon today.

The deceased were identified as Rokeya, 65, wife of Abdul Mannan, a resident of Hatbaria area in Narail district, Kamrunnahar, 45, wife of Badrul Alom, a resident of Kotalipara area in Gopalgonj, Ramesh Chandra, a teacher and resident of city’s Sonadanga area and Md. Alim, 30, son of Moslem Dofadar, a resident of Keshobpur area in Jashore district.

Dr Mizanur Rahman, focal person of flu corner and RMO of KMCH said they died after suffering from fever and cold-related disease.

“Samples have been collected from their bodies for coronavirus test, he said, adding that they were admitted on Sunday with fever, cold related diseases and respiratory problems.
