AL observes 69th founding anniversary

DHAKA, June 23, 2017 (BSS) – Leaders and activists of the ruling
Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and its front organisations today paid tribute
to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu
Bhaban at Dhanmondi Road no-32 on the occasion of the 69th founding
anniversary of the party.

In 1949, the party was formed as Awami Muslim League at the historic Rose
Garden in Old Dhaka City and subsequently the party was renamed as Awami
League.

On the occasion, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by
placing wreath at the portrait of the great leader in front of Bangabandhu
Bhaban.

Sheikh Hasina stood solemn silence for some time in front of the portrait
of Bangabandhu.

Members of the cabinet, state ministers and party lawmakers accompanied
her during this time. Then Sheikh Hasina along with party leaders placed
wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of Awami League.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, AL
General Secretary Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, AL
presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Dr Abdur Razzak, Mohammad Faruk
Khan, Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Advocate Jahangir Kabir
Nanak, Organising Secretary Ahmod Hossain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury,
Publication affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus
Sobhan Golap, Cultural affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social
Welfare Secretary Sujit Ray Nandi and Labour and Manpower affairs Secretary
Habibur Rahman Siraj, Forest and environment affairs secretary Delwar Hossain
and other central leaders of the party were present on the occasion.

Later, the Premier along with the party leaders inaugurated the 69th
founding anniversary programmes of Bangladesh Awami League by releasing
pigeons and balloons and hoisting national and party flags. National anthem
was orchestrated during the time.

Meanwhile, people from all strata including different political, social,
cultural and professional organisations paid deep respect to Bangabandhu by
placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation.
