Mobile-banking, debit-credit card racket busted, 13 held
DHAKA, June 7, 2020 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) busted a gang of mobile banking and debit-credit card detaining 13 persons in separate drives in Dhaka and Faridpur in the wee hours of today.
The detainees were Najmul Jamaddar, 19, Hasan Meer, 18, Ibrahim Mir, 18, Touhid Hawladar, 23, Mohan Shikder, 30, Parvej Meer, Sohel Molla, 26, Delwar Hossain, 35, Syed Hawlader, 20, Rakib Hossain, 24, Mohammad Ali Miah, 26, Palash Talukder,34 and Iman 25.
RAB assistant director (legal and media wing) Sujoy Sarker said members of RAB-2 and RAB-8 conducted separate drives in Dhaka and Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district in the early hours of today and busted the gang.
Around Taka 15 lakh, 31 mobile phones, two laptops, two tabs, 120 SIM cards, a router and a TV card were seized from their possession, he added.
At a media briefing at the RAB media centre at Karwanbazar here this afternoon, RAB spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sarwar Bin Kasem said the gang defrauded more than Taka one crore in the last two months.
