Bourses begin week with a slight gain

DHAKA, June 7, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) began the new week with a slight gain as the investors still remained in dilemma over the impact of ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 3961.51 points on Sunday, the first working day of week, with a gain of 08.12 points or 0.20 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 6.49 points and 2.62 points to settle at 1327.99 points and 918.58 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 12,223 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 19.87 million securities.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 700 billion which is higher than of previous day’s Taka 429 million.

Loser took a lead over gainers as out of 293 issues traded, 18 securities gained price while 19 declined and 256 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE, however, rose to Taka 3,102 billion, from Taka 3,099 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Central Pharma, Beximco Pharma, ACME Lab, Phoenix Insurance, Exim Bank, Silva Pharma, Besximco limited, Lindebd, Central Insurance and ACI Limited.

Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Grameenphone, Central Pharma, Beximco Pharma, Lindebd, Summit Power, Beximco Limited, Indo-Bangla Pharma, BSCCL and Exim Bank.

The top 10 losers were Dulamia Cotton, Beximco Synthetic, Dhaka Dying, Shinepukur Ceramics, ACI Formulation, Reliance Insurance, Daffodil Computer, Phoenix Finance, Shyampur Sugar and Paramount Insurance.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at green extending the gaining streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI went up by 14.68 points and 23.14 points to stand at 6822.92 points and 11260.72 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 2,527,648 shares and mutual fund of 90 companies were traded, of which 16 issues advanced while 16 declined and 59 issues remained unchanged.
