RCC to install 30 2ndary waste management stations

RAJSHAHI, June 6, 2020 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is going to set up 30 most modern secondary transfer stations in phases aimed at infusing dynamism into its waste removal and management activities.

“We have to install one secondary transfer station in each 30 wards of the corporation to free the city areas from the garage related pollution and contaminations,” said RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

He came up with the observation while addressing a view-sharing meeting with RCC officials , members of the waste management committee and others stakeholders at the city bhaban conference hall here today.
“ Initially we will install a dozen of station in the first phase” the Mayor Liton told the meeting adding that garbage and mud removal works in all 90 big drainages are on the final stage.

He also said the city corporation has been implementing drainage and approach road projects aimed at freeing the city from sever water-logging and easing pedestrian movement in the city .
“Various works including construction of a two kilometer road, culverts and railing were completed with an estimated cost of around TK 4.27 crore and infrastructure development works are being progressed under a project titled “Drain Construction for Removing Water-logging in Rajshahi city (Third Phase)” the mayor said .

Liton said another eight-kilometer road will be constructed alongside 11 drains under the project in order to make the pedestrian movement and removal of garbage and waste .

A medical waste disposal management plant is also being set up in Rajshahi city aimed at bringing all the wastes including the risky and harmful ones, produced in both public and private clinics, diagnostics and hospitals .
