Miscreants kill two in Pabna

PABNA, June 6, 2020 (BSS) – Miscreants killed a septuagenarian and a youth in two separate incidents at Varara area of Pabna Sadar Upazila and Dhormagram Bazar under Ataikula Police Station here in last 12 hours, police and locals said today.

In Sadar Upazila, a gang of armed assailants gunned down Hukum Ali, 70, in front of his house at Varara of Dogacchi Union last night, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna (Sadar) Police Station Nasim Ahmed told BSS.

“The gunmen called him out from his residence and sprayed bullets indiscriminately on him confirming the murder on the spot,” the OC said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, an indentified gang swooped on Mojnu Mia, 40, when he was returning home from the Dharmagram Bazar under Ataikula Police Station at 11 pm last night.

He was stabbed to death on the spot, OC of Ataikula Police Station Shahriful Islam told BSS correspondent this noon.

Two separate cases were filed with the concerned police stations over those incidents. The bodies were sent to the Pabna General Hospital’s morgue and police are investing the matters.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, the members of law enforcement agency recovered decomposed bodies of a retired banker, his wife and daughter from their home at Dilalpur area in Pabna district town.

The victims, Abdul Jabbar, 65, a retired senior officer of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, his wife Summa Begum, 55, and their daughter Sanjida Khatun, 14, were found dead in their rented house.

Pabna additional police Super of Pabna Ibne Mizan said a tense situation has been prevailing in the respective areas centering the killings. Additional police forces were deployed there.
