BGMEA sets up Covid-19 test lab at Chandra in Gazipur
DHAKA, June 4, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and
Exporters Association (BGMEA) has set up a coronavirus testing lab
with technological support of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh at
Chandra in Gazipur district.
The testing lab was inaugurated today through an online press
conference, said a BGMEA press release.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Health and Family Welfare Minister
Zahid Maleque, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment
Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)
Mayor Atiqul Islam, former FBCCI and BGMEA president Shafiul Islam
Mohiuddin, former BGMEA president Salam Murshedy, former President of
the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Motin Chowdhury and
President of the Diabetic Association Bangladesh (BADAS) Professor Dr
AK Azad Khan, among others, joined the press conference.
BGMEA President Dr Rubana Haque presided over the press conference.
In the lab, 400 samples can be tested every day and it will be increased later.
BGMEA in collaboration with BADAS (Diabetic Association of
Bangladesh), has taken initiative to set up some Polymerase Chain
Reaction (PCR) labs in Chandra, Tongi and Narayanganj.
