Noshin Anjum finishes 15th in Asian Jr Chess meet

DHAKA, June 3, 2020 (BSS)- The Women’s FIDE Master Noshin Anjum of Bangladesh finished at 15th position in the girls’ section of the Asian Junior and Girls Chess Championships girls category of online Chess, which was held on Tuesday last from 12 to 5:15 PM (Bangladeshi time), organised by Asian Chess Federation.

WFM Noshin earned four points out of nine games. She won against Dahampriya H K T Dewnethmie of Sri Lanka, Ning Isabelle Yixuan of New Zealand, Joseph Ritika of New Zealand and Gan Emily of New Zealand.

On the other hand, she lost five games against WIM Munkhzul Turmunkh of Mongolia, Bai Xue of China, Abrorova Sabrina of Tajikistan, WFM Singgih Diajeng Theresa of Indonesia and WIM Aakansha Hagawane of India.

WIM Ning Kaiyu of China emerged champion with 7 points in this event. WIM Munkhzul Turmunkh of Mongolia became runner-up with same points while Arpita Mukherjee of India became 3rd with 6.5 points.

Champion WIM Ning Kaiyu received U$$ 750 with gold medal, runner-up WIM Munkhzul Turmunkh received U$$ 500 with silver medal and third place finisher WIM Arpita Mukherjee got U$$ 250 with bronze medal.

Before start the games President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Mr. Arkady Dvorkovich and General Secretary of the Asian Chess Federation Mr. Hisham Al Taher spoke to the participants.

International Arbiter of Bangladesh Haroon Or Rashid was Deputy Chief Arbiter of the event. Final phase of the open section will be held on tomorrow (Wednesday) from 12:00 noon of Bangladesh time.

IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and Tahsin Tajwar Zia from Bangladesh will participate in the Asian Junior.

A total of twenty one players from seven zones of Asian and Oceania including five grandmaster and six International Masters are participate in the final phase of Asian Junior Under-20 years with gold, silver and bronze medals as well as cash prize of U$$ 3,000 will be given in the open category.
