BADC begins Boro seed procurement drive in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR, June 3, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has started procurement of Boro seed from farmers in Jamalpur and Sherpur districts this year.
Eight varieties of Boro seed will be procured from its 1209 registered farmers in the two districts, BADC official said.
The varieties are BR-14, BR-26, BRRI-28, BRRI-29, BRRI-58, BRRI-74, BRRI-81 and. BRRI-92.
Contract Growers Office sources said the procurement target of Boro seed was fixed 2051 tones this year.
Variety wise procurement targets are 65 tones BR-14, 41 tones BR-26, 443 tones BRRI-28, 1275 tones BRRI-29, 75 tones BRRI-58, 90 tones BRRI-74, 56 tones BRRI-81 and 6 tones BRRI-92.
The office said two types of seed-certified and truthfully level seed (TLS) are being procured.
The office said 1206 tones certified seed will be procured from 502 farmers while 845 tones TLS seed from 707 farmers.
Deputy Director, Contract Growers office, Khagendra Chandra Roy said to meet the procurement target 2061 acres of land under 9 blocks in the two districts have been taken. The procurement will continue till July, he added.
