Islamic scholar Allama Kazi Nurul Islam Hashemi passes away
CHATTOGRAM, June 2, 2020 (BSS)- Renowned and revered Islamic scholar,
Allama Kazi Nurul Islam Hashemi, passed away at a city hospital this morning.
He was 95.
The Islamic scholar, who earned love, respect and admiration from the
people of all walks of life in the region, died around 5 am at the city’s
Agrabad Ma-O-Shisu Hospital.
He left behind 11 sons, two daughters and a host of relatives, friends and
well-wishers and followers to mourn his death.
Allama Kazi Nurul Islam Hashem had been suffering from various
complications for a long time and he was admitted to Agrabad Ma-O-Shisu
hospital in the port city on Saturday.
The death of elderly Islamic scholar Chattogram Allama Kazi Nurul Islam
Hashemi cast a pall of gloom in political, cultural and social arenas in the
city and elsewhere in the district.
As the news spread, elites, leaders of different political parties,
followers of Aheala Sunnat Wal Jammat, students of different madrasas and
professional bodies rushed to his Bottal area residence, said Maolana Zin
Noorain, a front ranking leader of Aheala Sunnat Wal Jammat.
He was buried at his family graveyard in Bottal area under city’s Biyazid
thana after Asha prayers.
He was the Imam of Ahlele Sunnat Wal Jamaat Bangladesh and a spiritual
personality. He was also known as a veteran scholar and the founder of
various madrasas including Ahsanul Uloom Kamil Madrasa in Chattogram.
However, he has millions of followers all over the country, Noorain added.
