Rangpur hospital’s COVID-19 recovery rate now 73.33pc

RANGPUR, June 1, 2020 (BSS) – The recovery rate of coronavirus (COVID-19)
patients admitted to the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur
currently stands at 73.33 percent.

“We have already discharged 77 patients till date from the DCIH among a
total of 105 admitted patients since the beginning of its journey from April
19,” Superintendent of the DCIH Dr. SM Nurun Nabi told BSS today.

“We discharged nine more COVID-19 patients after their recovery today from
the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur today raising the
total number of recovered patients to 77 in the facility,” he said

The completely recovered patients are being discharged from the DCIH, an
extension of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH), after negative results
of two consecutive real-time PCR tests.

The nine patients who were recovered today include two members of Bangladesh
Police, three members of Ansar, two bankers, one NGO official and a common
citizen.

They are: policemen Tajuddin, 44, and Rasel Miah, 27, Ansar members Enamul
Haque, 28, Rezaul Alam 44, and Shahinur, 26, Bankers Rajan Miah, 36, and Abdul
Khaleque 60, NGO official Ripon Mohanta, 29, and civilian Tashfi, 20.

On May 31, three recovered patients including Ansar members Golam Rabbani,
38, and Saiful Islam, 25, and health service provider Subhash Chandra Roy, 36,
were discharged from the facility.

Earlier, 10 more recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from the DCIH
in Rangpur on May 30.

On May 28, two more recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged while
another recovered patient was discharged from the hospital on May 27 last.

Earlier, five recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged on May 24 and 11
recovered COVID-19) patients, including Superintendent of Police Mehedul Karim
and his wife Begum Hawa Bibi were discharged from the DCIH on May 19.

On May 16, recovered physician Dr. Kamrul Eman Rashed was discharged from
the DCIH while 15 recovered patients were discharged from the hospital on May
15 last.

On May 12, five recovered patients were released from the DCIH, four others
on May 9, two more on May 6, two recovered physicians on May 4 while Moslem
Uddin, 80, was discharged as the first recovered patient on April 29 last.

Meanwhile, four critical patients with multiple complexities Aminur Rahman
Prodhan, 65, of Panchagarh and Mofiz Uddin, 67, Begum Batitunnesa, 85, and
Samsur Huda, 69, of Rangpur metropolis expired while undergoing treatments at
the DCIH so far.

“A total of 20 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatments at the DCIH
that has 90 general beds (60 for males and 30 for females) and an insensitive
care unit (ICU) with 10 beds and 10 ventilators,” Dr. Nabi added.

Talking to BSS today, Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed
Khan expressed satisfaction over the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients at the
DCIH and lauded the performance of the physicians and other staff at the
facility.
