Two killed in N Angola after elephant collides with truck
LUANDA, May 31,2020 (BSS/XINHUA) — Two people were killed and two others seriously injured after a truck and an elephant collided on Saturday in northern Angola’s Cuanza Norte province, said a note from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment.
The accident, which also resulted in the death of the animal, occurred in a well-known area with a high density of elephant population.
According to the note, part of the dead animal was recovered for incineration for health and safety reasons.
The ministry, together with local authorities in Cuanza Norte, is now developing a research project on elephant distribution and population density in the province to draw up measures to reduce human-wildlife conflicts.
