RANGPUR, May 27, 2020 (BSS) – The recorded number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases stands at 848 in Rangpur division where community transmission of the deadly virus continues now at places.
“Thirty-five new patients were reported after testing 376 samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in the division on Tuesday,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.
The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients stands at 360 in Rangpur, 55 in Panchagarh, 96 in Nilphamari, 33 in Lalmonirhat, 60 in Kurigram, 63 in Thakurgaon, 148 in Dinajpur and 33 Gaibandha in the division.
Meanwhile, a total of 214 COVID-19 patients were released after their recovery from the 15 Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all eight districts of Rangpur division till 8 am today.
“The percentage of recovery among all 848 coronavirus infected patients stands now at over 25.23 in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
Among the 214 recovered COVID-19 patients, 65 of Rangpur, 10 of Panchagarh, 34 of Nilphamari, six of Lalmonirhat, 26 of Kurigram, 23 of Thakurgaon, 28 of Dinajpur and 22 of Gaibandha districts in the division.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan a total of 12,523 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested since the beginning, and of them, 848 found coronavirus positive with the percentage of over 6.77 in the division.
Meanwhile, 12 fatalities were reported so far with five from Rangpur, three from Gaibandha, two Nilphamari and one each from Dinajpur and Panchagarh districts in the division.
Among the total 848 coronavirus infected patients, 151 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after release of 214 recovered patients and 12 deaths while 471 remaining in isolation at homes in the division.
Since the beginning, a total of 36,568 people were put in quarantine, and of them, 30,376 released so far and 6,192 are remaining in home or institutional quarantine.
During the last 24 hours till 8 am today, 339 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 463 others released in the division.
“I humbly suggest the people so that they stay at home and abide by the health directives to remain safe as community transmission continues at places in the division,” Dr. Khan added.
