Narail, May 27, 2020 (BSS) – A 14-year old boy was killed after being struck by lightning at Raigram Purbapara of Lohagara Upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased was identified as Ayon Kumar Biswas, son of Ranjit Kumar Biswas.
Ayon was killed on the spot as a thunderbolt of lightning hit him while he was returning home with paddy from a nearby field when gusty wind with continuous raining was occurring in the area since early this morning, said locals.
Ayon was a class eight student of a local RKK Janata High School.
Ashiqur Rahman, Officer in Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station, confirmed the incident while contacted with him. Lightning strikes claim hundreds of lives in Bangladesh every year. The deaths mostly occur in a warmer period from March to July.
