204 COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 25, 2020 (BSS) – The total number of recovered coronavirus
(COVID-19) patients rose to 204 with the healing of 22 more during the last
24 till 8 am today in Rangpur division.

The newly recovered 22 COVID-19 patients were released from the 15
Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals or from home isolation in the division
during the period.

Health officials said the total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands
at 794 now as 32 newly infected patients were identified during the same
period in the division where community transmission of the deadly virus
continues in a few areas.

“The percentage of recovery among all 794 coronavirus patients stands
around 25.70 now,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients stand at
346 in Rangpur, 51 in Panchagarh, 84 in Nilphamari, 30 in Lalmonirhat, 60 in
Kurigram, 61 in Thakurgaon, 129 in Dinajpur and 33 in Gaibandha districts.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan said a
total of 11,959 collected samples were tested since the beginning, and of
them, 794 were found coronavirus positive.

Meanwhile, 12 fatalities were reported so far with five from Rangpur,
three from Gaibandha, two from Nilphamari and one each from Dinajpur and
Panchagarh in the division till Sunday night.

“Among the 794 coronavirus patients, 147 are undergoing treatment at
isolation units of different hospitals after release of 204 recovered
patients and 12 deaths while 431 remaining in isolation at homes,” he said.

A total of 35,972 people were put in quarantine, and of them, 29,048 were
released so far and 6,924 are remaining in home or institutional quarantine
in Rangpur division.

During the last 24 hours till 8 am today, 407 people were put in
quarantine at home or institutions and 396 others were released from all
eight districts in the division.

“We are now providing treatments to the COVID-19 patients at 25 quarantine
and isolation centres with 2,552 beds and 13 beds with 13 ventilators at two
intensive care units in the division,” Dr. Khan said.

The government hospitals and other health facilities of Rangpur division
have 1,123 physicians, 1,757 nurses and 5,907 other staff to face the COVID-
19 situation, he added.

He especially suggested the people to stay at home and abide by the health
guidelines of the government to remain safe and keep others safe as community
transmission continues at some places.
