Mahbub for formulating innovative ideas to resuscitate tourism

DHAKA, May 24, 2020 (BSS) – State minister for civil aviation and tourism
M Mahbub Ali today laid emphasis on formulating innovative ideas to resurrect
the country’s tourism during post COVID-19 period as tourism sector, like
other countries, has been hard hit by the pandemic.

“We have to work together for making innovative ideas to revive our
tourism and leisure sector after the pandemic,” he said while virtually
inaugurating an online training for the tour operators.

The state minister said outbreak of coronavirus is a global problem that
forced most population of the world in some kind of lockdown as well as
pushed the global economic towards its worst downturn.

He urged the private sector to step forward and work along with the
government in finding a way out to limit the tourism sector’s financial
fallout due to the pandemic.

During this countrywide lockdown while the tour operators are passing their
idle time, Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) organised the two-day virtual
training programme for 40 tour operators based in Dhaka.

BTB’s Chief Executive Officer Jabed Ahmed presided over the inauguration
ceremony while BTB’s director Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber and Tour operator
Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) president M Rafeuzzaman were present as the
special guests.

Ahmed said the BTB has strengthen its activities for recovering the current
crisis that made all travel and leisure activities stalemate around the
globe.
