KHULNA, May 24, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque distributed foodstuffs among 3,571 jobless construction workers aimed at mitigating their financial hardship amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
He handed over foodstuffs among them on the Premises of Nirala ideal secondary school; Boyra Division Labor Directorate and Sonapota Government Primary School yesterday afternoon.
Each of the beneficiaries received a sac containing 8-kg of rice and other essentials as a part of the government’s instant humanitarian support programme.
Director of Khulna Divisional Labor Directorate Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy-Inspector General of Factory and Establishment Inspection Directorate Md. Ariful Islam, General Secretary of Khulna city Sramik League Ranjit Kumar Ghosh, among others, accompanied the mayor.
Later, the mayor dispensed 11 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 1, 57,000 in cash and other relief materials among 1,570 needy workers and destitute people at different ward’s in the city.
General Secretary of Khulna city unit Awami League MDA Babul Rana, word councillor’s, among others, were present on the occasion.
