Fisheries Ministry for financial support to cyclone-hit farmers to offset
losses
DHAKA, May 22, 2020 (BSS) -To offset the losses caused by cyclone
‘Amphan’, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has requested the Ministry
of Disaster Management and Relief to provide financial assistance or
incentives and interest-free loans on soft terms to the concerned farmers and
entrepreneurs on emergency basis.
A letter signed by Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Raunak Mahmud was
sent to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and
Relief on Thursday (May 21) in this regard, a press release said here today.
According to the preliminary information received from Barishal and Khulna
divisions, the amount of losses from cyclone Amphan in the fisheries sector
is Taka 305.50 crore while Tk 1.0440 crore in the livestock sector, the
release added.
