38 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 22, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-eight more people were tested positive for coronavirus during the past 24 hours till 8 am today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories located at Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 38 patients were diagnosed with coronavirus positive after completing tests of 376 samples at the two laboratories in Rangpur division on Thursday night.

“Fourteen new patients were found after testing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) last night,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

All of the new 14 new patients are hailing from different areas of Rangpur metropolis in Rangpur district.

“The 14 new patients include seven policemen of Rangpur Police Lines, two policemen of Rangpur Metropolitan Police and one citizen each from Jalkor, Chikleybhata, Kadamtala, Munshipara and Balapara areas in the metropolis,” Dr. Lyzu added.

Meanwhile, 24 new infected patients were found after completing tests of 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur on Thursday night.

“The 24 new patients include 11 of five upazilas in Dinajpur, four of three upazilas in Thakurgaon, five of four upazilas of Panchagarh and four of two upazilas Nilphamari,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS.
