CHATTOGRAM, May 21, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 257 more people were tested
positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the three Covid-19 laboratories in
Chattogram district in last 24 hours, which is the highest number of
confirmed cases in a single day in any district outside Dhaka.
With this, the total numbers of COVID-19 patients rose to 1234 only in
Chattogram district till today.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS that a total of 41 people were
tested positive afresh for coronavirus after testing 239 samples at BITID in
last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 182 more new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram
Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 373 samples in two days.
Six corona patients were detected at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital
lab after testing 18 samples of Lohagara upazila of the district in last 24
hours, Dr Rabbi said.
After the first patient was identified in Dampara on April 3, the number of
confirmed cases in Chattogram rose to 1234 only in Chattogram district in the
last 48 days, he added.
So far, 44 people died in Chattogram district due to COVID-19 during the
period, the sources added.
