RCC election posters to be removed by tomorrow

RAJSHAHI, June 21, 2018 (BSS)- All the election campaign related posters, banners and festoons in the city will be removed by tomorrow.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting relating to the forthcoming election of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) held at the office of Divisional Commissioner here today.

Chaired by Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, the meeting was attended, among others, by Regional Election Officer Syed Aminul Islam, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Nisharul Arif, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Sujayet Islam and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader and local office heads of RAB, BGB and DGFI.

The meeting decided that drives will be conducted against the open campaign by the possible candidates prior to the scheduled time according to the election schedule.

Led by Executive Magistrate from the district administration, RMP will conduct the drive in association with the RCC.

In the drives, poster, billboard, banner, gate and lighting which were arranged on behalf of the possible mayoral and councilor candidates will be removed.

Various other election related issues were discussed elaborately in the meeting.

Earlier on June 13, election office issued a notice to remove all the election campaign related posters and banners by June 20.

The candidates were also given letter in this regard, said District Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Atiar Rahman.
