BCL also abandoned
DHAKA, May 20, 2020 (BSS)- Like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has also abandoned the Bangladesh
Championship League (BCL) due to coronavirus pandemic.
“The decision was unanimously taken at a virtual meeting of the
Professional Football League Committee (PFLC) today,” a BFF press release
said.
After the meeting, PFLC chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy said they have
discussed various aspects of the league with the participating clubs and
finally took the decision to scrap the league.
He said the meeting also decided to begin the activities of the recently-
abandoned BPL and BCL at the same time from next session.
Murshedy also informed that the BFF has already sought financial
assistance from the Youth and Sports Ministry for different member
associations, District Football Association, clubs, concern officials,
players, trainers, referees and others under the BFF .
“We hope that the ministry would take effective steps in this regard,” he
said.
