157 coronavirus patients recovered in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 20, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 157 coronavirus (COVID-19) patients were released after their recovery among a total of 630 infected people in all eight districts of Rangpur division till 8 am today.

“The percentage of recovered coronavirus patients stands at 24.92 in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

The total number of coronavirus patients rose to 630 after 27 new people were tested as positive on Thursday following tests of 376 samples conducted at the two COVID-19 Laboratories located at Rangpur and Dinajpur.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 294 in Rangpur, 24 in Panchagarh, 64 in Nilphamari, 28 in Lalmonirhat, 57 in Kurigram, 40 in Thakurgaon, 98 in Dinajpur and 25 Gaibandha districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

At the same time, the 157 recovered patients include 49 of Rangpur, eight of Panchagarh, 20 of Nilphamari, five of Lalmonirhat, 17 of Kurigram, 22 of Thakurgaon, 14 of Dinajpur and 22 of Gaibandha districts in the division, he added.

Meanwhile, a total of nine coronavirus patients, including four of Rangpur, two of Nilphamari while one each of Panchagarh, Dinajpur and Gaibandha districts died so far in Rangpur division.

Among the total 630 coronavirus infected patients, 119 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after release of 157 recovered patients and nine deaths while 345 remaining in isolation at homes in the division.

The infected and recovered coronavirus patients also include physicians, nurses, brothers and other staff of different government hospitals, health complexes and health providing facilities, police, Ansar and common people of Rangpur division.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan said a total of 34,266 people were put in quarantine, and of them, 27,559 released so far and 6,707 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Rangpur division.

“During the last 24 hours till 8 am today, a total of 433 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 417 others released in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Besides, 21 coronavirus infected patients were released from different Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of Rangpur division on Tuesday.

“Currently, the government hospitals and other health services providing facilities of Rangpur division have 1,123 physicians, 1,757 nurses and 5,907 other staff to face the COVID-19 situation,” he said.

The COVID-19 patients are getting health services at 2,552 beds at 25 quarantine and isolation centres in Rangpur division where 13 beds with 13 ventilators are available at two intensive care units at two government hospitals to face the situation.
